The 4th SchooL on Advanced Light-Emitting and Optical Materials SLALOM will be held on 18-20 May 2022 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Advanced light-emitting and optical materials, including metamaterials, is a platform for future breakthroughs in telecommunications, quantum computing, displays, and photovoltaics.
This time the School will offer the attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in light-emitting and light-detecting technologies as well as about advances in spectroscopy in optical range and beyond. Each day of the three-day course will be devoted to one of these subjects with leading scientists presenting their view on state-of-the-art and and perspectives in their field and possible bridges between different directions.

Format

The school will be held in an offline format in St. Petersburg, Russia on 18-20 May 2022.

ACTIVITIES

3-day course of lectures of the world's best experts from the fundamentals to the latest achievements in the field, poster session and discussions with experts on modern scientific issues.

BEST POSTER AWARD

The Poster Session for young participants will provide unique opportunity for exchanging their experience with the world leading experts. We are going to select 3 (three) best posters and award them with Diplomas and memorable prizes.

GRANT

We have a limited amount of funds available for the best applications to fully or partially cover the travel costs or participation fee.


The School is organized by the Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University with financial support of Russian Science Foundation (grant 19-73-30023).

How to apply

The application for SLALOM 2022 will be opened soon and last until 14 March 2022.


You can choose the preferred type of presentation - E-Poster, or participation without poster.





Selection of the School participants is made on the basis of applicant’s CV and motivation letter. All participants are encouraged to attend Poster Session competition. The best poster will be awarded.
Grants to cover the participation fee will be offered for selected students after consideration of requests.

School format:

This year the School will run in an offline-only format. All participants of the School will be offered to solve a final test given by lecturers. Students who will successfully pass the test will be awarded 3 ECTS.


The fee includes:

Tuition, lecture materials, coffee-breaks, lunches, and social events. Accommodation is paid individually, organizers will provide the list of the hotels as suggestions.
