• School on Advanced Light-Emitting and Optical Materials

    SLALOM 2022

    30 November - 2 December 2022

General info

The 5th SchooL on Advanced Light-Emitting and Optical Materials SLALOM will be held on 30 November-2 December 2022 in St.Petersburg, Russia. Advanced light-emitting and optical materials, including metamaterials, is a platform for future breakthroughs in telecommunications, quantum computing, displays, and photovoltaics.
This time the School will offer the attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in light-emitting and light-detecting technologies as well as about advances in spectroscopy in optical range and beyond. Each day of the three-day course will be devoted to one of these subjects with leading scientists presenting their view on state-of-the-art and perspectives in their field and possible bridges between different directions.

Format

The school will be held in a hybrid format (offline in St. Petersburg and online), but we encourage you to participate offline to get the most out of the school program as some activities will not be available for online participants.

ACTIVITIES

3-day course of lectures of the world's best experts from the fundamentals to the latest achievements in the field, poster session and discussions with experts on modern scientific issues.

BEST POSTER AWARD

The Poster Session for young participants will provide unique opportunity for exchanging their experience with the world leading experts. We are going to select 3 (three) best posters and award them with Diplomas and memorable prizes.

PITCH SESSION

During the School, a Pitch Session will be held. You will have 10 minutes (7 minutes for the talk + 3 minutes for questions) to present the results of your research as an oral talk.

The School is organized by the School of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University with financial support of Russian Science Foundation (grant 19-73-30023).
